As I write this I'm watching our local KTVN News Reno reporting the "Hawk Fire" that started two days ago and has exploded to more than 20,000 acres!
We have friends who have worked all their lives to live in beautiful homes that are in the fire's path. I almost bought a home last year in the area that I think I just saw destroyed!
High winds, dry vegetation and a spark. That's all it took.
Homes lost, people suffering burns and injuries, people's lives destroyed.
Just days ago there was a news report that SIX OUT OF EVERY 10 WILDFIRES IN NEVADA ARE CAUSED BY HUMANS. The news has confirmed this fire is human caused. It's too early for final conclusions. This fire may be an accident, but facts are there is one activity that is causes the majority of fires in Nevada.

Trump and NRA and MAGA say "guns protect us". And yes this is true. But the lame lax rules of gun possession are far outweighing any "protections". Gun laws are not working. Guns, murders, threats of teens committing "suicide by gunfire" are out of hand. AND! when you think about that statement "guns protect us"... from what??? Slingshots? knives... yea those pose dangers but POLICE WOULD NOT NEED BODY ARMOR AND FULLY AUTOMATIC WEAPONS IF THE "BAD GUYS" DIDN'T HAVE THE SAME!!!
We've watched random "active shooters" slaughter school children. We've watched "people with mental issues" mass murder. We've even heard of gun fire aimed at First Responders!!! Today, a shooting 3 miles from this wildfire!
IT'S JUST PLAIN OUT OF HAND STUPID NOW!
And, Trump is allowing guns to become even more readily accessible. He just passed legislation that will allow convicted felons, many violent, to possess guns legally! Think about that! These are people who have proven they care nothing about other people being allowed to dictate who lives or dies.
Trump is freeing up regulations on gun sales, he's backing the sale of more powerful, more dangerous weapons and he's boasting about "crime being down" which is proving to just be changes in the way gun related crimes are recorded.
I again, go back to a day in his first term, Oct 1st, 2017 when a RENO RESIDENT fired automatic weapons down onto a crowd of people at a music concert. 58 murdered, 500 plus severely injured... Trump stood in front of new media and said, "We'll be taking a look at gun laws."
