I'm not an expert in political strategies but I can tell you straight up where Trump failed in last nights debate.
TRUMP"S MAKEUP TEAM DID NOT SPRAY HIS ORANGE TAN SKIN PAINT THICK ENOUGH!
This first debate between Biden and Trump is proving to be more like 50 shades of embarrassing... FOR TRUMP!
There were moments when it appeared Trump was about to pop. His face turned the reddish color of a Los Angeles sunrise on the most polluted day of the year!
He was sweating, seething, hissing, spitting mad as he constantly CONSTANTLY interjected stupid Trump-garbage in between almost every sentence Biden spoke. At times Trump even appeared to be verbally attacking the Moderator Christopher Wallace... a Fox News commentator... supposedly one of the "good guys" Trump adheres to.
This was the first time Trump appeared in front of an audience that was not bound to silence since the 2016 debates with Hillary Clinton. Trump did not cope well with having a Moderator and the opposing voice of his Democratic opponent. He seemed incensed not being in front of maskless, mindless MAGA-hatters who bow to his words of muck.
Right from the start it was painfully evident Trump's plan was to bully not only Joe Biden, but Wallace too, and fill the air with "blah blah blah" nonsense in between every one tenth of a pause. Literally, there were moments Trump was talking like a child. I think people saw an insecure, ill-prepared infant trying to conceal the fact he has no clue what he's talking about.
Thankfully for Biden Trump was sequestered into his position on stage by Covid19 separation rules. During the 2016 debate we remember Trump looming around Hillary Clinton, lurking over her shoulder, physically violating her space... a classic bullying tactic.
The morning after news feeds are on fire. The most shocking moment of the debate is creating waves of disgust across our nation. This was then Wallace insisted Trump condemn White Supremacists. Trump, hedged the question, tried to change the subject saying "from what I've seen it's the radical left..."
Biden tried to comment with facts about Trump's own FBI Director testifying that White Supremacists pose the highest threat to our national safety... But, Trump stomped all over Biden's words. Quickly Wallace pushed again for for Trump to make a statement against thiese foul dangerous groups Trump refers to a "fine people"... Biden too insisted Trump come out and condemn White Supremacists...
Trump would not.
Trump did pick up on mention of "Proud Boys", a lower branch of the White Supremacists movement who have been showing up a polling locations armed, intimidating voters. Gun toters who profess they want to "protect" but are there to incite violence.
For a split second it almost sounded like Trump was actually going to condemn these "proud boys" ... but his mouth failed him... he basically ENDORSED these white-bread, low-brow, ignorant gun-wielders...

The heated discussion rolled by this statement in real time but as the real meaning of Trump's words "stand back and stand by" soaked in people were OUTRAGED!
Commentators immediately addressed this after the debate. These "Proud boys", who nobody is proud of, have used the exact wording "stand back and stand by" as a slogan for their plans to show up at state capitals, in city streets during peaceful protests and at polling locations during the ongoing 2020 election.
Obviously Trump has realized he will lose the election. He's been driving in the notion the only way he will lose is if the Democrats "rig the election". So, Trump is calling on what he is calling his "Army" to retaliate if he loses. "stand back and stand by" is code for "get ready to attack".
