I start saying NO VIOLENCE IS "RATIONAL" CONCERNING POLITICAL VIEWS, or pretty much any aspect of human existence. The person who shot Charlie Kirk most likely because his views were different was wrong, sick, a danger to us all. That person not only committed a disgusting act of murder but in the long run he aided the "right" (who are usually wrong) by giving them justification to return acts of violence in the "left" (usually right in arguing for the people, against guns, against violence).
I think there are several wrong meanings, wrong thinking, wrong messages in Kirks quote.
1. God given rights. Religions should do everything they can to instill in their loyal followers that THEIR GOD is not everyone's God. The "rights" their God gives them do not apply to every living soul on the planet. What Kirk, and a lot of religious people seem to think is their rights justify killing??? WRONG.
2. What the Hell would make someone think that killing anyone is ok to support a constitutional amendment??? Everything about our constitution focuses on allowing all of us to live in harmony, respecting each other, allowing those who differ from us to be "free" and to pursue happiness. The thought that the 2nd Amendment justifies people to be killed to SUPPORT the 2nd Amendment is insane!
3. The statement "some gun deaths". Wow, this one is just a sign of a very self-loving person. What Kirk meant was "some OTHER PEOPLE's deaths are OK"... That is a WTF statement. This is like someone celebrating a tornado missing their home while their neighbors lay dead in their street. "Hey I didn't get killed... hurray!". Sick. Only a Psychopath is OK with people being killed for any reason and boasting because it hasn't happened to him!.
4. "Prudent deal" "rational"... wow. just wow. Self adornment beyond my comprehension.
