You've got to feel sorry for future students taking HISTORY: THE TRUMP ERA. There's going to be at least 3 separate textbooks to cover his outrageous attacks against our Constitution.
This week is substantial. Literally, the future voting powers of Americans is on the line. Trump has blast us back to Jim Crow days. If you're ok with this latest Supreme Court decision allowing the Republicans to cut up thier states into Trump-friendly bites, all because you don't have as much pigment in your skin as the people this will adversely impact... well, something went wrong in your upbringing because you're a racist!
DEFINITION: Gerrymandering is the deliberate manipulation of electoral district boundaries to give one political party, incumbent, or group an unfair advantage over another. By creating irregularly shaped districts, those in power can "pack" opposing voters into a few districts or "crack" them across many, weakening their voting power.
APPLICATION: Gerrymandering is a science. Political strategists have algorithms and huge real-time databases in super-computers that work out the inkblot test maps that will favor one party over the other. This year it's gone to a whole new level and we're witnessing a ploy by Trump to pressure his loyal Republicans to cheat on his behalf.
HISTORY: Gerrymandering in the United States officially originated in 1812 in Massachusetts, when Governor Elbridge Gerry signed a bill that redrew state senate election districts to benefit his Democratic-Republican Party. The term "gerrymander" was coined shortly after, blending his name with "salamander" to describe a distorted, map-like creature, as detailed by the
ABUSE: Jim Crow laws were state and local statutes, primarily in the Southern United States from the late 19th century to 1965, that enforced racial segregation and marginalized African Americans. Based on white supremacy, this system legalized segregation in public facilities, schools, and transportation, while systematically denying Black voting rights and economic opportunities.
LAST WEEK: Supreme Court ruled in favor of what is blatant gerrymandering based on racial demographics. The Supreme Court’s 6-3 ruling last week in Louisiana v. Callais takes the U.S.A. back to the mid 1900's. Huge win for racists, huge loss for Americans of color.
The Court’s decision involved a challenge to Louisiana’s congressional district map. The Voting Rights Act, which Congress originally passed in 1965 and subsequently amended, bars states from drawing districts in ways that dilute the voting power of non-white voters. To comply with the traditional understanding of Section 2 of the law, Louisiana drew its districts to create so-called majority-minority districts.
ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — Georgia Republicans wasted no time in calling on state lawmakers to redraw the Peach State’s congressional maps after Wednesday’s U.S. Supreme Court ruling that struck down a majority Black congressional district in Louisiana.
DEMOCRATS FIGHT BACK: Virginia, California and other states controlled by democrats are poised to gerrymander their districts in their favor. They have to play defense. Gastian Germanic saying "Sheep's s**t where dogs don't lie". (Ok, it's more melodic is German)
With some voting schedules coming in just a few weeks all this will amount to is a huge mess. Like a Church cake sale where the clergy want to decide who wins and loses. The saying "May the best man (or woman) win" is now replaced with "May the persons who have the highest level of voter manipulation win".
Funny, Trump constantly accuses people of cheating... He's a master.
