You know that scene in Trump and Trumper... wait Dumb and Dumber where Lloyd (Jim Carrey) asks the girl if there's a chance... she would dump her handsome kidnapped rich husband and fall in love with him... and spend her life working on his worm farm... doin' it in the "shaggin wagon"... I know ladies... tempting. Her response "not in a million" Lloyd of course think that actually means a chance. That was the Republicans over the past months listening to Doctor Fauci and other top pandemic advisors who had to sugar-coat their answers in front of Trump. Today, the Republican controlled Senate FINALLY had a real CoronaVirus hearing. Experts and Senators spoke freely. The news was not great. Pint blank Fauci said at least 20 times during questions and answers "No, the virus is not gone"... "we could open too soon, too fast and see dire consequences"... I was actually waiting for him to scream "HEY DUMMIES WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE IF WE OPEN UP!!!" This is a hearing WE SHOULD HAVE HAD MONTHS AGO!!! But, at least we finally hear some truths. The virus has only slowed because of stay-home measures The virus will kick back up, killing thousands if we open too fast/soon There is no proven vaccine so far There are only relatively effective treatments
So I'll do it for Fauci... "HEY DUMMIES WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE IF WE OPEN UP!!!"
and, can we all take a moment to give credit to the Democrats who were pushing for a Congressional hearing... The Republicans wanted a Senate hearing they could command. Regardless, it was a fairly honest, non-partisan conversation that had steaming condemnations of Trump's flaccid response, clarifications of how the government has failed to attack the pandemic, some little-lies, some misspoken numbers... and of course some lame excuses from Republicans to dismiss Trump's ineptitude. Good luck. At times it almost felt like a "normal government argument fest"... a "democracy" in action. It was nice. Let's do it again soon Senators and Congress
oh, and next time, keep the "child" out of the room as you did today. Trump can sit on his toilet and tweet insults and ignorance... that's where he belongs.
Oh, btw on another front today was also the day our Supreme Court heard arguments involving Trump's refusal to produce his income records, tax returns and Deautsche Bank loan documents. Trump sued lower courts, and government law agencies that tried to show the people these documents... Logic says there must be some really disgusting unlawful unethical corrupt items in Trump's dossier. THAT WILL BE A WHOLE OTHER POST COMING SOON!
I just hope Ruth Bader Ginsburg isn't found "suicided" like so many others that threatened to expose Trump. Good thing she's not in a high security jail facility like Epstein.
