It's happened again; A U.S. citizen gained access into the Washington Hilton in an attempt to shoot Trump during the White House Correspondents' Dinner. This was the first WHCD Trump has attended being that he is seen as an opponent of independent news media. Last month a federal judge permanently blocked Trump's executive order to cut federal funding for NPR and PBS, declaring the effort an unconstitutional and unlawful. Trump has pointed to members of the news media at his rallies calling them "the enemy, fake news, the problem". Trump's enemy is free speech news. Truth is Trump's most threatening enemy.
Regardless, ANY act of violence is wrong. Any act of violence is an assault on the civility of our peaceful society.
Most gun violence is preventable but attempts to increase the effectiveness of gun laws in the United States are met with formidable denials. Our country has become saturated with guns. There are more guns in our country now than humans. There are more and more mass shootings. The number of people dying every day in our country has continued to increase over the past decades.
This third attempt on the part of a U.S. citizen to murder his president is sick. It damages the goals of the Liberal side of the argument. Every time someone shoots at a politician they hand the "gun lovers" more ammo to justify having MORE GUNS! It's the "circle of gun violence" myself and millions of others have been using to try to convince gun supporters to consider the fact: "MORE GUNS RESULT IN MORE GUN VIOLENCE".
As expected, Trump within hours of this latest assassination attempt appeared on TV to sell his pro gun, poor me, rhetoric. He claimed "It's the radical Liberals" who cause violence. He claimed leftist posts in social media are invoking violence. And, he tried to use this act of a mentally sick man as justification for his $400M Ball Room. What?
Trump is like a teenager of gun owners saying because he got bullied in school he needs an assault rifle!
Never. not once, do you hear Trump speak of smarter gun laws. Laws that would include assessments of every gun owner's mental capacity to commit a crime, a murder. Wait, shoot, I'm wrong about that... One time, back in 2017 Trump said these exact words "We're going to be looking at gun laws". He said this the morning after the mass shooting in Las Vegas. This was when a gun loving resident of Reno Nevada, carried suitcases full of automatic weapons up to his hotel room and opened fire on the crowd attending a music festival. 58 people died, approximately 500 were severely wounded. That's what it took to have Trump even mention gun laws.
Not even after another would-be assassin with an assault rifle shot at Trump did he ever speak such blasphomus words against is gun loving supporters.
Trump tried to insinuate the shooter in D.C. was motivated to kill Christians. That turned out to be a lie. Trump was trying to get back in good light with Christians who have been changing their minds about him. Trump's insults against the Pope, his insulting depiction of himself as Jesus, Trump's mass murdering war in Iran, and his support for Israel's mass slaughter of tens of thousands of innocent people in Gaza have become reasons for "good Christians" to finally see Trump for what he is, a person who claims to be Christian for self gain.
This latest shooter. a well educated Teacher from California purchased his weapons legally. In his social media posts he said he "experienced rage about what this administration has done." He made statements that he would kill. In the eyes of gun supporters he too was "a good" guy up until the moment he pulled his trigger.
His family members tried to warn authorities but U.S. laws protected his right to attempt to kill.
