Today's word: Poignant (pronounced poy-nyuhnt) describes something that causes a sharp sense of sadness, regret, or deep emotional affecting. It often refers to a bittersweet or moving moment. Synonyms include touching, affecting, and heartbreaking, while antonyms include cheerful and unaffecting.
This No Kings Protester was arrested because a handful people in downtown L.A. were becoming unruly. We're not talking about 10,000 people, we're talking about 20 people who according to police reports were "throwing things".
When 10,000 of Trump's MAGA morons stormed the U.S. Capitol, attacked Capitol Police violently, resulting in physical and emotional injuries, some leading to deaths... they were called "patriots". They were excused for their INSURRECTION which Trump and Republicans called "a tour of the Capitol". Trump not only pardoned the majority of the INSURRECTIONISTS after they were finally held accountable for their acts of violence... HE'S HIRED THEM AS ICE GOONS TO BEAT UP PEOPLE AND REIGN TERROR!

It's important to remember that in large gatherings of humans "mob mentality" can take over. There is never an excuse for anyone to cause injury to other's and damage to people's property during what should be peaceful gatherings. These childish acts negate the nature of democracy and turn people against the movements.
It's also important to realize that in some cases the people who start "throwing things" are not members taking part in the protests. They use violence to obtain their own goals. My father talked about witnessing riots in Chicago and seeing idiots driving around in pickup trucks shooting people.
When you attend a protest it's vital to keep your eyes open, scan the crowd, look for people who look angry, out of place, have back-packs, look for bulges on their hips (guns), people peering down from rooftops, etc. Know where the police are and notify them if you see anything suspicious. And, yes if you see someone "throwing things" have the police deal with THOSE PEOPLE before they have an excuse to arrest innocent people.

MILLIONS AND MILLIONS OF AMERICANS PEACEFULLY EXPRESSED THEIR CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS TO REJECT TRUMP'S AUTHORITARIAN WORLD OF "ALLOWED CRIMES" AND DOUBLE STANDARDS!
Estimates are the No Kings protest head count was somewhere between 9 to 15 million. The fact so few improper acts occurred is astounding.
So far there is no other photo as 'poignant' that accurately depicts what the nationwide No Kings protest was about as Ms. Liberty being detained... I'm going to make an educated guess she was not one of the few throwing rocks.
Shame on the few people who "threw things". They let their anger command their actions. That is exactly the opposite of what the No Kings protest was about.
and Shame on L.A. police for coming to the protest with zip ties. If all police forces stopped killing people and their superiors stopped siding with Trump's violent, deadly, Nazi regime the masses in the streets can be somewhere enjoying their freedoms.
