Commentary:

Markwayne Mullin is a Senator for Oklahoma and former professional Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter. Mullin portayed himself as a "tough guy" and "fighter" attempting to merge his wrestling and combat sports with his political persona.

If you want to see where that combination of "macho" and "politics" goes watch the movie "Idiocracy". Actor Terry Crews portrayed a "Mullin" president "Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho". He basically echoed a speech Trump gave after a hurricane saying "Sh*t. I know sh*t's bad right now with all that starving bullsh*t, and the dust storms, and we are running out of french fries and burrito coverings."

If this confirmation of a "Camacho-Macho" is what our government is transforming into... ah... the future leadership of our country is going to be entertaining, and horribly "Ig'nant".

Spending a few minutes today researching for this post I'm struck by the similarities between 100 BC ancient Rome and modern day 2026 Washington DC.

What does this have to do with the confirmation of Trump's choice to replace Kristi "I shot my dog and liked it" Noem today? Mullin is often described as a "MAGA Warrior" by Donald Trump, and, there you go, Mullin is Trump's Brutus.

Historical reference:

Julius Ceasar enjoyed his work-free life as an entitled rich man and enjoyed watching gladiators engage in combat. They wrestled, physically assaulted, kicked each other, stabbed, dismembered and murdered each other for the sole enjoyment of Julius and crowds of people who found some sort of pleasure watching such spectacles.

MMA isn't to this level but google it... bloody faces, permanent head injuries, and most likely some deaths resulting from the barbaric sport (unconfirmed).

When Ceasar entered the amphitheater in Rome the crowd greeted him by standing up and waving white handkerchiefs, paying homage to him and manifesting their presence and their emotional, almost religious participation in witnessing the "MMA" competitions. I've never attended a MMA wrestling match but from what I've seen they are pretty much the same scene as a Mar a Lago feast. Right now, Trump is building his Colosseum attached to the White House. Only difference will be the plumbing and elevator to Trump's bunker.

The population of Rome during Ceasar's reign was about 150,000. They lived without working at the expense of the state and those who had employment had half the day free of commitments, including, forcibly, political ones, to occupy leisure time and to distract and channel passions, instincts, and violence. This sounds pretty much like modern day Washington D.C.

According to historians; Julius Caesar was not gay, but likely bisexual, a common practice in ancient Rome where sexual partners were often chosen by class rather than gender. He had female mistresses and three wives, but there were rumors of sexual relationships with males.

Gladiatorial fights and wrestling matches have been known to attract homosexual adults. Even today, there's a MMA wrestler who calls himself Julius Caesar who called another wrestler “Erectus.”. Ah, ...ok.

Honestly, being a straight male I can't think of many other things less appealing than watching men in tight clothes handling each other. Kind of "ick" for me. But, to each his own...

If Trump's "MAGA warrior" appeals to Republican gladiator impulses... whatever floats their "galleys", it definitely explains why Trump's official theme song is "YMCA".

It's hard to not be judgemental of things after being alive for more than half a century. I see Mullin, a man who ACTED LIKE A COWARD during Trump's January 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol as someone not suitable in charge of the security of our Nation.
